Dominion provides reduced electricity rates to Town buildings

Chester recently contracted with a new supplier, Dominion, to provide electricity at a reduced rate of 8.29 cts./kWh. Dominion also offers this same rate to business customers and a lower rate of 7.99 cts./kWh to residential customers. In order to take advantage of these rates customers should complete a form that is found at this link There is also an opportunity to support renewable energy as part of the Clean Energy Options Program at another link. Residents who sign up for the renewable option will be assisting the Town in qualifying for solar panels to be installed on Town buildings through the Clean Energy Fund as well as mitigating climate change.

Sign Up for CT Alerts

The Town of Chester and the Chester Hose Company would like to encourage residents to sign up for ctalert.gov, a statewide emergency notification system that may also be used for local emergency notifications. Those who sign up for CT Alert would get cell phone messages if their service was working following the storm, or text messages that arrived once their cell service was restored. To sign up for CT Alerts, go to ctalert.gov.

Energy Task Force Energy Plan

A Comprehensive Energy Plan was written by the Energy Subcommittee of the Chester Conservation Commission during Winter/Spring 2011 and was presented to the Board of Selectmen in July 2011 and subsequently endorsed by them.

eWaste Collection at the Transfer Station

Please see attached poster for the electronic waste containers that can now be found at the landfill and transfer stations.

WPCA Public Hearing

The Water Pollution Control Authority will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 7:00 PM in Conference Room B of the Chester Town Hall, 203 Middlesex Ave, for the purpose of adjusting the boundaries of the sewer service area within the Town of Chester.
Copies of the agenda are available at the Town Clerk’s office.

Main Street Improvement Project Survey - We Need Your Help

The Town, through the Main Street Project Committee, is beginning to plan improvements to the roadway, drainage and sidewalks in the Village area. The first steps will be to determine what and how much to do, and we need your help! Please fill out this survey and also plan on attending public meetings which will solicit your input and ideas. There will be plenty of opportunity in the survey to write-in your comments - but please also come to the public meetings to share and discuss your thoughts. The public meetings are scheduled for January 10th and February 16th at 7:30 at the Meeting House. Your thoughts and ideas are important, so please share them with us.
