Friends of the Library

The Friends group is a fundraising and volunteer organization.

Paperback Book Sale Returns to the Chester Fair
For the second year, fairgoers will be able to pick up great paperbacks at great prices at the Chester Fair, August 28-30. The Friends of Chester Public Library will offer a wide selection of gently read paperbacks for adults and children, with most books priced from $.25 to $1.00. Proceeds benefit library programs. Donations of paperbacks only will be gratefully accepted at Chester Library from August 10-26. Volunteers willing to help set up or work at the sale are encouraged to call Diane Lindsay at 526-2443.

Tracy Quale is President of the Friends of the Library.

The Friends of the Library organizes two major books sales per year as fundraisers for the Library.

This group of dedicated volunteers makes a tremendous difference for all Chester Library patrons. The Friends fund:

  • all Video, DVD and CD acquisitions
  • professionally facilitated April and October book discussion series
  • materials for children’s story and craft hours
  • summer reading program supplies and performers
  • a new computer for staff use

Annual memberships provide a significant portion of the Friends income. An individual membership is just $25.00, supporter $50.00, and patron $100. Membership forms are available at the library or checks made out to “Friends of Chester Library” may be mailed to the Library at P.O. Box 310, Chester, CT 06412.
